Flux Night

Flux 2013

Flux 2013

I heard about this art festival, and didn't even look into the details, I just decided to show up with my camera. It turns out that the festival was literally being held in front of a place where I used to live 15 years ago, back when the neighborhood was a total slum. Back then, the two times that I left my car on the street for an hour or two, the windows got smashed.

So now the area is apparently the hippest spot in town. And by hip, I mean hipsters... coming from every direction like a fucking hipster plague. I have never seen so many ironic mustaches. Every 5 feet is a Turkish coffee shop, artsy tattoo parlor, hookah bar, art gallery, and in many cases, combinations of all of those things.

Nonetheless, it was fun walking around for a few hours. And there were at least some partially naked women from time to time.

The Gathering? Yeah, I went.

The Gathering of the Juggalos. There are not enough words to describe how awesome the experience is. New friends. Old friends. Music. Craziness. Seriously, if you have never gone, you are missing out on things that you could never have even imagined.

Tuesday on the ferry

Tuesday on the ferry

This year, I was there for 6 days, and it seemed to go by faster than ever. I find myself daydreaming about being there all year long, and even though it takes me forever to work through the pictures and post them, I cherish getting to spend the time reliving the week and seeing all of the joy that fills the faces of my adopted Family.
